On October Second, a brand new Pokemon anime special will air, alongside the usual adventures of Ash and Co, a TRUE adaptation of the games will finally be animated.

Join Red and Green on their journey to one up each other as they travel across the Kanto region; gathering gym badges and stomping team rocket.
It's about time this story got a proper adaptation, 17 years in the making.

Sure, Ash's adventures are fun and all.. but it's about time the true hero got the fame he deserved.

So, my excitement is obvious, but what are your thoughts?

I'm fronting the campaign to show this special during one of our club meetings because well because it's going to be awesome and I don't need any other reason.

Do I really gotta break it down again?
It's basically the fact that as a whole pokémon has been ingrained into our popular culture for so long, and it's core material is games so it doesn't "feel" like an anime. When someone is listing off anime they are currently watching, if they are watching pokémon as well they leave that out because by now it's like it's just a thing. It's it's own thing now.
And while I don't lump the main series under the anime genre, specials unrelated to the main animated series can be lumped under because it's different? it's all technical mumbo jumbo

^ TL:DR Pokemon got soo good and so popular that it is now it's own genre. We've got Anime, comics, video games and then Pokemon.
